Willard J. Smith, age 67, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Crossview Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Pastor Dan DeRoche will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until the time of services on Saturday at the church.
Willard was born November 11, 1953 in Oceanside, California to Richard and Marie (Kane) Smith. He graduated from Quantico High School in 1971 and enlisted with the United States Air Force. He served in the Air Force from November 17, 1971 to November 30, 1995, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. He attended the University of Montana from 1996-2000, graduating with a degree in forestry and worked as a forester for the federal government.
He was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Lowe on May 16, 1980. They were blessed with 40 years of marriage.
Willard was an active member of Crossview Church and was active in the community at large. He was a member of the Society of American Foresters, Heroes Café, Sergeants Association, Vietnam Veterans of America and the Optimist Club. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.
Willard is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Jean; daughter, Ella Marie Graf and her significant other, Russ Sarnoski; granddaughter, Amber Graf and her significant other, Tony Hernandez; great-grandchildren: Elaina Hernandez, Ellie Hernandez, and a baby girl on the way; brothers and sisters: Donna (Dayl) Burnett, Jeffrey (Danyelle) Smith, Helen Glover, Mike (Sandra) Smith, Debbie Clark, and Becky (Amber) Smith; sister-in-law, Tish McAdoo; 12 nephews; and 12 nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Sydney Jean Marie Graf; and niece, Jennifer McCoach.
