Alvina J. Brown, age 91, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Friday, June 4, 2021 at Wisconsin Rapids Health Services in Wisconsin Rapids.
Services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, June 25, 2021 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation for relatives and friends will be from 11:30 A.M. until the time of services on Friday at the church. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
Alvina was born February 9, 1930 in Rudolph, WI to Joseph and Loretta (Wydeven) Dorshorst. She married Charles ”Charlie” Brown of Junction City in Blenker, WI and they settled in Wisconsin Rapids.
Alvina worked as a waitress for 35 years. After she and Charlie retired, they spent many winters in Texas. Charlie preceded her in death in 2003.
Alvina was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and a Life Member of the 32nd Red Arrow Division Auxiliary. She was secretary and treasurer of the couple’s bowling league in Wisconsin Rapids and a Junior Bowling Association coach/instructor for 13 years.
She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, traveling, camping, and crafts. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Alvina is survived by her children: Bob (Barbara) Brown, Carol Cherney, Ron (Karen) Brown, and Toby (Tana) Brown; grandchildren: Sarah (Kevin) Richardson, Kimberly Brown, Wade (Sara) Cherney, Derick (Brenda) Cherney, Kristina (Rob) Childress, Rachael Hill , Tori (Derick) Fuller and Trey Brown; great-grandchildren: Audrey and Will Richardson, Charley and Carter Norman, Tristan and Tyler Hill, and Daxton Fuller; brother, Jerry (Mary Anne) Dorshorst; and sister-in-law, Kathy Dorshorst.
In addition to her husband, Charlie, she is preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Luella (Ed) Ashbeck and Jackie (Art) Ashbeck; brothers: Marnis (Betty) Dorshorst and Jim Dorshorst; great-granddaughter, Natalia Cherney; son-in-law, LaVerne (Tex) Cherney; and grandson-in-law, Jeff Hill.
