Arlene L. O’Day, age 88, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at her home.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 15, 2021 at River Cities Christian Church, 869 WI-73, Wisconsin Rapids. Pastor Scott Kaczorowski will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation for relatives and friends will be from 2:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 14 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Monday at the church.
Arlene was born June 9, 1932 in Wisconsin Rapids to Edwin and Marie (Bakenbush) Steiner. She married Thomas O’Day on June 2, 1951 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. They were blessed with 70 years of marriage and 13 children.
Arlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She excelled at being a homemaker. She was an excellent seamstress and made a lot of her children’s clothing. She loved to bake and regularly made fresh bread and cinnamon bread for her family. She liked to read and wrote a lot of poetry and songs. She enjoyed playing accordion and piano. She and her husband Tom loved to square dance when they were younger.
Arlene is survived by her loving husband, Tom; 13 children: Patrick (Sharon) O’Day, Cindae (Dave) Osowski, Colleen (Roy) Ferkey, Bridget (Matthew) Christen, Kathy O’Day, Dianne (Michael) Hutkowski, Tammy (Kevin) Lewis, Danny (Heike) O’Day, Doreen O’Day, Sharon (Michael) Wilke, Maureen (Don) O’Day-Shefchik, Sean (Julie) O’Day, and Kevin O’Day; 45 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren (with two more on the way). She is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings: Audrey (Hauser) Yanke, Joyce Vidal, Jerome Steiner, and Joan “Tippy” Williams; two grandsons: Amos Passineau and Aaron O’Day; granddaughter Briana Reimer; and daughter-in-law, Julie O’day.
