Bette was born September 26, 1925 in Green Bay, WI to Henry and Pearl (Ferguson) Kroll. She married James L. Rasmussen on September 5, 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. They were blessed with four sons: Michael, Douglas, Jeffrey and Dennis.
Bette was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was involved with Ladies Aide, choir, and quilting and volunteered at Immanuel Lutheran School. She enjoyed golfing in the Tri-City Ladies League and was an avid bowler in local leagues late into her life. Bette’s involvement in these organizations usually included a leadership role, such as being an officer. She and her husband Jim were active members of the Wisconsin Rapids Elks Lodge for many years and did a fair amount of traveling including trips to Las Vegas and a 25th Anniversary trip to Hawaii. Bette loved playing cards at social gatherings with friends and family and later in life loved playing bingo with her fellow residents at Wisconsin Rapids Health Services.
Bette is survived by three sons: Michael (Patricia) Rasmussen of Wisconsin Rapids, Jeffrey (Laura) Rasmussen of Plover, and Dennis (Barbara) Rasmussen of Altoona; three granddaughters: Kali (Michael) Hietpas, Amy Rasmussen, and Leticia (Jeff) Willier; one great-grandchild, Dru Nicolet; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; son, Douglas Rasmussen; granddaughter Alicia Hurtjen, and two sisters and their spouses: Joy (Russell) LaFrance and Doris (Gordon) Berg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Immanuel Lutheran Church and School.
Bette’s family would like to thank all the employees of Wisconsin Rapids Health Services who cared for her all the years she was a resident with them; and just recently the employees of Compassus Hospice Care. They have all been so thoughtful, caring and compassionate.
