Carol Hamon, 81, Town of Rome, Wisconsin, passed away Tuesday September 28, 2021 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids.
Carol was born in Freeport, IL to Raymond and Leona Schoonhoven and raised in Forreston, IL. Married Alan Hamon in June of 1972. They moved to Roscoe, IL prior to retiring at Lake Arrowhead, WI and New Smyrna Beach, FL. She earned a master’s degree in Education and loved teaching kindergarten for 25 years in the Rockford Illinois school district.
Carol enjoyed golfing, traveling, reading books, crossword puzzles, antiquing and having a beautiful yard full of flowers. Her home was filled with many treasures from trips with friends and family. She was a significant part of her grandchildren’s lives creating many special family traditions over the years especially at the holidays, complete with sugar cookie frosting parties. She also was always willing to do anything for her daughters and if she couldn’t help, she would quickly volunteer Alan to help who always did. One thing for sure Carol loved desserts, especially pie and always managed to find a least one good piece of pie on her many road trips. She also enjoyed walking the seashore near her home in Florida picking up seashells, along with anything else that drifted ashore to use in the many creative art work pieces she and Alan made together.
Carol is survived by her husband of 49 years, Alan; daughters: Shelby Korsberg, South Beloit, WI, Stacy (Bob) Baker, Lake Villa, IL, and Sara (Steve) Stoneback, Brodhead, WI; granddaughters: Erika (Andrew Edgar) Porter, Rockton, IL, Jamie (Dan) Gesell, South Beloit, WI, Alyssa (Ryan) Kotecki, Severence, CO, Jenna Baker, Denver, CO and Leah (Ryan) Burnett, Murfreesboro, TN; great granddaughter, Hadley Kotecki; great grandson, baby boy Burnett arriving December 2021; sister Dolores Moers, Little Rock, AR; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and grandparents.
