Casper Van Nakai “Hoçakisak’”, age 46, of Nekoosa (Town of Port Edwards) passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at his residence.
Commitment services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 26, 2021 at the Cex Haci Community Building in Nekoosa. Stuart Lonetree will officiate. Burial will be at Dexterville Cemetery.
Casper was born November 25, 1975 in Wisconsin Rapids to Dick and Elaine (Dick) Nakai.
He worked for the Ho-Chunk Nation for many years in various positions. He enjoyed playing video games including Halo Franchise, Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Diablo, and The Elder Scrolls. He also enjoyed sitting by the campfire and going fishing.
Casper is survived by his father, Dick Nakai; his brother, Richard Nakai; his sister, Irene (Bryan) Fruit; and nieces and nephews: Jessica Nakai, Myra Nakai (her children: Mariah, Miyako, Tasuna, and Tama Thompson, and Cionazi and Taahanazhi Nakai), and Matthew and Mary Fruit. He is preceded in death by his mother, Elaine Nakai; his brother, Joseph Nakai; uncles: Norbert Dick, Keith Dick, Nathan Dick; aunts Lenora Smith and Lorna Nakai; grandparents: Vanverd (Emmaline) Dick, and Tom (Mary) Nakai.
