Obituary

Daniel A. Eisch, a resident of Wisconsin Rapids since 1987, passed away in Portland, OR, while on a river cruise on the Snake and Columbia Rivers with his beloved wife, Connie, on Friday, April 22, 2022.  He was born August 13, 1940 in Larson, WI.  He was 81.

Connie (née VerKuilen) and Dan married on May 1, 1982 and enjoyed nearly 40 years as partners.  Loving father of Peter (Jody) Eisch of Hudson, WI; Sara (Tim) Krull, of Phoenix, AZ; Jonathan (Vanessa) Eisch of Geneva, IL; and Laura Welden, of Milwaukee, WI. Adoring grandfather of Jacob, Lucas, and Matthew Krull, Julia (Dominic) Marco; Afton Eisch; Chase and Stuart (Addison and great-granddaughter Lyla) Burns; Paxton, Adler, and Emery Eisch; and Gerhardt “Hardy” and Margot Welden.  Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Verna (née Erickson) and Gerhardt “Colonel” Eisch, of Winchester (Winnebago County), WI.

Dan was employed by the State of Wisconsin, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) covering Waupaca County.  He and Connie moved to Wisconsin Rapids when he became the district director. As a dedicated community member, he served on the boards of the Wisconsin Rapids School District, the United Way, and The Family Center.  Dan also served on the alumni board of Waldorf College.  Connie and Dan were part of a team which offered Marriage Encounter weekends for couples in central Wisconsin for many years.  Their Image group of dear friends met for nearly 35 years.

Dan had a life-long interest in technology, making wire recordings at his church as a child to making the first internet presence for local organizations in the mid-nineties.  After his retirement from DVR in 1998, Dan and his sons ran a small computer and internet business called Boku, Inc.  At Grace Lutheran Church, he made recordings for Community Access for over 30 years, progressing from VHS, to digital and finally live-streaming to YouTube during the pandemic.

Dan and his family enjoyed camping trips to Mirror Lake State Park and Point Beach State Forest, in particular, with family and friends for many years.
