David Groshek, 88, of Auburndale, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Edenbrook Nursing Home in Wisconsin Rapids.
Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Pastor Cheryl Davis will officiate. Visitation for relatives and friends will be from Noon to 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday until the time of services.
David was born on November 9, 1932, in Portage County, Wisconsin to August and Alexandria (Schubert) Groshek, Jr. He married Charlotte (Shirley) Korbal on February 7, 1959.
He served his country as a member of the United States Army National Guard.
David was a dairy farmer during his professional life and especially enjoyed gardening and tending to his vegetables. David was a logger and loved to run the sawmill. He was regarded as a very hard worker. He was a NASCAR fan, and his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He was a jokester and liked to prank and tease people.
He loved watermelon, potatoes and gravy and enjoyed hosting family for the holidays. David enjoyed old westerns including Gunsmoke. He was also a fan of Archie Bunker television shows.
He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte (Shirley); children: Linda (Darrell) Firkus, Darlene (Fred) Ponshock, Patti (John) Niznik, David (Pam) Groshek, Robert (Denise) Groshek, and Sherri (Tom) Krutzik; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and other family members.
David is predeceased by his parents, sisters Audrey (Stanley) and Marcella (Ben).
