Donald L. Marzofka, age 90, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023 in Rudolph surrounded by his family.
A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids.
Donald was born June 24, 1932 to Louis and Viola (Pagels) Marzofka in Wausau, WI. He attended Wausau High School and graduated in 1951. Donald proudly served in the United States Marine Corps in the Korean War from July 1951 until July 1954. He married Darlene Haasl on October 6, 1956 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburndale, WI. They were blessed with 64 years of marriage until her passing on May 20, 2021.
In his younger years Donald played football all four years of high school and his team never lost a game. He continued his passion for sports and cheered on the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers. Donald worked for Consolidated Paper Inc. at the Biron Division as a blade coater operator for 41 years until his retirement.
He liked to go hunting, fishing and staying at their cabin up north on Little Spider Lake. Donald and his wife enjoyed playing Cribbage, Sheepshead and Poker with family and friends. Donald especially liked to spend time with his family for all the holidays. He felt privileged to go on the Honor Flight on Labor Day in 2022 with his daughter. He also liked to watch Gun Smoke and putting puzzles together.
Donald is survived by his children: Darla (David) Moran and Dan Marzofka; eight grandchildren: Dawn (Mike) Brostowitz, Dennis (Jen) Moran, Dana (Austin) Zinda, Jeremy (Danielle) Marzofka, Tonya Olson, Nick Marzofka, Tina (Victor) Rodriguez, Chris Marzofka; 21 great-grandchildren: daughter-in-law Geraldine Rucinski and sister-in-law Shirley (Jim) Palecek.
Donald is preceded in death by his loving wife, parents; two sons: David and Dale Marzofka and brother Louis “Gene” (Norberta) Marzofka and brother-in-law Fritz Haasl.
