Dwight H. Wernberg, age 86, of Wisconsin Rapids, was called home to be with his savior Jesus Christ on Friday, July 9, 2021. He was born in Marshfield, to the late Harry and Eva Wernberg, on April 24, 1935. He married the love of his life, Lola Robinson, on June 10, 1961. Dwight served our Country in the United States Army, and in the Military Honor Guard, during the Berlin crisis in Germany. He then spent his career working at Consolidated Papers in Biron, Wisconsin.
Dwight enjoyed refinishing furniture, fixing just about anything, helping relatives on their farms, putting together challenging puzzles, fishing, camping, and traveling throughout the United States, Germany, and Belgium. But most of all, he loved playing and joking with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dwight will be dearly missed by his wife of 60 years: Lola; his children: Kevin (Karen) Wernberg of Plover and Renee (Jeff) Witthuhn of Appleton; grandchildren: Jessica (Gavin) Hutchinson, Ben (Kristin) Wernberg, and Zachary (Tracy) Wattron; great-grandchildren: Everett Hutchinson, Elina Hutchinson, and Oliver Wattron. He is further survived by brother and sister in-laws: Terry (Ann) Messing, Melvin (Marie) Kingsley, and Al Robinson, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was greeted in heaven by his parents: Harry and Eva Wernberg; sister, LaVone Robinson; brothers-in-law: David Robinson, Harold Robinson; sisters-in-law: Maryanne Robinson, Carmine Robinson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Steve Steinmetz officiating.
