Gary L. Kickland, age 77, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022 at House of the Dove in Marshfield.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery in the town of Saratoga.
Gary was born on March 20, 1945 to Clifford and Ruth (Whitrock) Kickland. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1964. Gary married Donna Brandl on September 18, 1984 in Jackson Hole, WY. He worked as a truck driver for Consolidated Papers, Inc. for 35 plus years until retiring.
Gary enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He had a sense of humor and always made people laugh. In his younger years he liked to compete in Cowboy Action shooting contests and was a member of the NRA and SASS. You could also find him in his garage working on classic cars. Gary liked to travel, and took a couple trips with Donna to Alaska.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Donna; children: Kip Kickland and Michelle (Kevin) Smits; grandchildren: Casey (Dustin) Saeger, Ashley (Chad) Lokken, Courtney (Tyler Jacobitz) Anuson, Cody (Nikita) Kickland, Carley (Logan) Meddaugh, Amanda (Brent) Belke, Chris (Haley) Smits, Jessica Smits, Samantha (Austin) Baltus, Kyle (Ellie) Smits; great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Adalee, Alyla, Ava, William, Kastin, Carter, Haven, Remi, Hayley, Gabby, Bryce, Christopher Jr., Jordan, Trinity, Kolton, Gabby, and Carter; and brother Richard (Verna) Kickland. He is preceded in death by his parents and infant brother Ronald Kickland.
The family would like to thank the staff at the House of Dove and Compassus Hospice Care, especially Kari from Marshfield Medical Center 3 North and Sara from palliative care, for the excellent care Gary received.
