Geneva E. Braun, age 71, passed away on Sunday August 13, 2023, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born on March 26, 1952, in Roanoke, Virginia, the daughter of Jackson and Geneva (Bratton) Pettrey. Genny met and married Chris Paulowski in 1973 in Virginia. They had three children, Amy, Eric, and Errin and They later divorced. In 1994, She met Fredrick Braun, and they were married on June 25, 1995. Genny worked for Riverview Hospital in the radiology department until taking a leave of absence due to health reasons and later retiring in 2013. Genny loved her family and friends; she was a very sociable person. In her free time, she enjoyed travelling, collecting pig Knick knacks and shopping. But most of all she loved spending time with her family and many friends.
Genny was an active lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi International, a woman’s friendship sorority. She fully followed their motto “Life, Learning and Friendship” along with some of her closest friends and sorority sisters. Genny was selective about who she gave her love to, but those who received it, received it in full measure.
Genny is survived by her husband of 28 years Fredrick, her children, Amy (Sean) Ingram, Eric Paulowski and Errin Corrin; her stepchildren, Rob (Tanya) Braun and Alexis (Kenny Elzner) Braun; grandchildren, Brady Diggles, Garret (Abbie Hutkowski) Ingram, Breanna Ingram, Aliya Paulowski and Adley Paulowski. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Chris Paulowski and by her brother Jackson Pettrey. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at First English Lutheran Church with the Reverend Cheryl Davis presiding. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the services at the church.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Compassus Home Health, Inclusa and Rhonda Felton, and all other friends and family that helped and cared for Genny and her family.
