Isabelle Anna Vollmert, also known as Izzy, passed away on August 7, 2023, at the age of 100 at Renaissance Assisted Living in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Father Robert Schaller will officiate. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at church. Entombment will follow the service at Forest Hill Mausoleum.
She was born on September 3, 1922 to George and Francis (Scheckelman) Walter. She married Carl H. Vollmert on April 3, 1948. They were blessed with 43 years of marriage until his passing on March 9, 1991. Isabelle was a remarkable individual who dedicated her life to helping others.
Izzy had a passion for volunteering and spent much of her time serving the community. She generously gave her time to Wisconsin Rapids and Sauk City hospitals, as well as hospice in Lodi, WI. Isabelle also volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Society in Prairie du Sac, WI, where she made many friends as she helped this charity.
She was a loving mother to her daughter, Carol (Ken) Brockman from Vero Beach, FL and her son, Robert (Claudia) Vollmert from Weston, WI. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Isabelle was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Vollmert, her son John and parents George and Frances Walter, as well as her sister Florence Stublaski and two brothers Albert and Roman.
Isabelle Vollmert found solace and spiritual fulfillment at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church where she worshipped. Her faith was an integral part of her life, providing her with strength and guidance.
Beyond her dedication to volunteering and devotion to her family, Izzy had a deep love for gardening. She found joy in cultivating her garden and took pride in growing, processing and canning her own food. Her green thumb was admired by all who knew her.
Isabelle A. Vollmert’s kindness, generosity and love for others will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all those lives she touched. Her legacy of selflessness and compassion will continue to inspire and serve as a reminder of the impact one person can make in the lives of others.
The family wishes to thank the staff members of Renaissance Assisted Living and Aspirus Hospice for their exceptional care that was given to Izzy.
