James F. Mohr, 76, of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin passed away at home on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at his residence due to complications of treatment for leukemia.
A visitation to celebrate his life will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids.
He was born on March 24, 1945 to Joseph and Lucille (Perry) Mohr in Springfield, IL. He is a 1964 graduate of Lanphier High School in Springfield. He married his high school sweetheart, Susan Fahrenbacher, in 1966.
James was a registered respiratory therapist and served as department head at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield from 1969 – 1974, and began his long career at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids in 1974, when he became head of the Respiratory Therapy Department, and, later, moving into the administration as a vice president. He retired in 2011.
From 2011 – 2020, he continued working as a respiratory therapist on a casual basis at various hospitals in central Wisconsin and St. Paul, MN. He was also on the board of the South Wood County Red Cross, worked as an EMT at Higgins Ambulance Service, and volunteered on the ski patrol at Mt. Morris.
James was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying trips to his favorite spot in North Dakota for fishing and water fowl hunting, and trekking to “deer camp” in Bayfield, WI for many years.
James is survived by his wife, Susan; two children: Jonathon Mohr (Maria Almazon) and Rebecca Taylor (David); grandchildren: Evan Taylor, William Taylor, and Salem Mohr; sister: Joann Hall; sister-in-law: Linda Cox; brothers-in-law: Alva Hall, and James Cox; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
