Joye was born September 8, 1943 in Mauston, WI to Tilmar and Verna (Braund) Olson. She graduated from John Edwards High School in Port Edwards. She married Art Schneider in 1964 at First English Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. She and Art moved to California where he was stationed in the military. Art was later called by the Lord to be a pastor. Joye loved being a pastor’s wife and moved with Art through his ministry to International Falls and later back to California. Art preceded her in death in 1987. Joye would be blessed to find love again and on May 13, 2000, she was united in marriage to Gary Dimka at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Nekoosa. Gary preceded her in death in 2014.
Joye struggled with polio since she was five years old but always kept a positive outlook on life, trusting in the Lord and His promises. She was a regular attendee at bible study. She loved to cook and bake and made the best mashed potatoes, pumpkin bread, and ginger snap cookies. She would often share her baked goods with residents at her apartment building, family and friends. Joye also enjoyed crocheting and doing Sudoku puzzles.
Joye is survived by her son, Jay Schneider; son-in-law, Darren (Sue) Delaney; grandchildren: Sarah (Christopher) Holtzclaw and their children Everly and Ballard, Dillon Scheider, Kayla (Kodiak) Boersma and their children Addilyn and Avery, and Brysen Delaney; brother, Cal (Carmen) Olson; sisters: Kay (Willis) Finifrock, Sandy Long, Sonja Gilgenbach, and Selma Getsinger; and many extended family members she gained from her marriage to Gary.
