Kenneth E. Bencke, age 86, of Wisconsin Rapids was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Renaissance Assisted Living in Wisconsin Rapids.
Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Private family services will follow. Rev. Jack Austin of Calvary Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Forest Hill Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids.
Ken was born to Mildred (Robertson) Bencke on March 24, 1934 in Wisconsin Rapids. He married Carol Fletcher on October 25, 1956 in Wisconsin Rapids. She passed away in September of 1994. He married Audrey Winegarden on November 10, 1995 in Wisconsin Rapids. She passed away in July of 2017.
He served his country in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Huachuca, AZ. He was an Electronic Repair Specialist.
He worked as an electrician for City Outdoor Advertising in Wisconsin Rapids for over 35 years.
Ken dedicated everything to his family. He was a loving father and husband. In earlier years, Ken enjoyed square dancing and hunting. He camped often with family at Lake Wazeecha and other area campgrounds. He loved playing cards with family and friends. There was always a project he was working on either his own or lending help to others. Until recently Ken was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Ken is survived by his children: Kim (Tim) Anderson of Fort Atkinson, Todd (Karen) Bencke of Wisconsin Rapids, and Suzanne (Hans) Walther of Stevens Point; Sister-in-Law Jill (Richard) Studinski of Plover; grandchildren: Kristin Anderson of Sturgeon Bay, Kent (Morgan) Anderson of Wisconsin Rapids, Kelly (Colleen) Anderson of Madison, Hanna (Kristoffer) Engebretson of Green Bay, Alex (Carly) Bencke of Madison, Austin Walther of Stevens Point, and Evan (Amy) Walther of Stevens Point; great-grandchildren: Aiden, Kylie, Karter, Lena, Nora, Etta, Ryan, Jordan, Leah, and Emily; step-children: Dave (Rose) Winegarden of Nekoosa, Mike (Shelia) Winegarden of West Bend, Wendy Winegarden of Wisconsin Rapids, Cathy (Dan) Hughes of Wisconsin Rapids, Mark Winegarden of Neillsville, Mary (Gordie) Anderson of Minocqua, and Jenny (David) Farley of Wisconsin Rapids; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother; wives Carol and Audrey; daughter and son-in-law, Pam & Brad Anderson; grandchildren: Andrea Bencke and Benjamin Walther; brother and sister-in-law, Lyle & Josephine Bencke; sister and brother-in-law, Hilda & Charles TerMaat; and step-children: Bill, Jim, and Jackie Winegarden.
