Russell Lorne Madsen, age 67, of Nekoosa, passed away on February 2, 2021 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Jack Austin will officiate. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery. A time of visitation for relatives and friends will be from 12:30 P.M. until the time of services on Saturday at the church.
Russell was born March 1, 1953 in Manitowoc, WI to Marvin and Carol (Anthold) Madsen. He was a 1971 graduate of Menomonee Falls North High School. He married Christine Leigh on March 22, 1975 in Menomonee Falls.
Russell was employed by Consolidated Papers/New Page/Verso for 40 years as a journeyman electrician.
He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church for 41 years and played on the church softball team. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing to gospel and bluegrass music. He was very passionate about being a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved time with family, planning sleepovers and treasure hunts for the grandchildren, and camping. He loved his tools and was never without a flashlight.
Russell is survived by his loving bride, Christine; children: Diana (Joseph) Hillemeyer, David Madsen, Daniel (Lindsay) Madsen, and Joseph (Carrie) Madsen; grandchildren: AnnaLeigh, Caleb, Rebekah, Dawson, Makyah, Elijah, Ella, Sawyre, Ethan, Linelle, Olivia, Lawrence, Fredrik, Joseph Jr., Adeline, Johnathan, and Amelia; brothers: Ron Madsen, Steve Madsen, and Jeff (Sandy) Madsen; sister, Cindy (Duane) Brewington; and mother-in-law, LaVira Holley. He is preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Vern Holley.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to Camp Fairwood in Westfield, WI.
