Obituary

Ruth A. Schwabe, age 81, of the Town of Rome, Wisconsin passed away on July 24, 2022 at Villa Pines Living Center.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2022 at Crossview Church in Wisconsin Rapids.  Pastor Glenn White will officiate.  Please note that there is no scheduled visitation.

Ruth was born on July 21, 1941 in West Allis, WI to William and Evelyn (Bitters) Wilkening.  She married Jerome T. Schwabe on October 21, 1961 in West Allis.  She attended the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. Ruth was a key punch operator for Clark Oil Company during her working career.

She loved cooking and baking, especially chocolate and pumpkin recipes.  Ruth was an animal lover.  She was a 4-H leader, scout leader, loved reading, and was president of the Rome Senior Citizens Club. 

Ruth is survived by her husband; sons: Paul (Patty) Schwabe, Thomas (Tonya) Schwabe, and Jerome P. Schwabe; daughters: Shari Schwabe, and Jacqueline (Peter) Koehler; grandchildren: Madelyn Schwabe, Miriam Schwabe, Cristina Schwabe, Laura Koehler, and Matthew Koehler; and sister: Janet (John) Cerar.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and in-laws: Leo and Pauline Schwabe.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests consideration of a donation to the Wood County Humane Society.

The family would like to thank the staffs at Villa Pines Nursing Home and Heartland Hospice.
