Terry Clarence Mews, 67, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 20, 2021.
Terry was born January 2, 1954, in Marshfield, Wisconsin, to Sylvester and Goldabell (Gennett) Mews. He graduated from Lincoln high School in 1973. During High school, he earned his CDL and started hauling mobile homes, giving him his first career.
Terry enlisted in the U.S. Army right after high school. He felt honored to be serving in the military, but his career ended with an honorable discharge before his first year because of heath issues. Terry returned to driving over the road traveling the east coast hauling freezer trailers. He then moved onto working in different food factories such as Ore-Ida Foods, Northland Cranberries, and right before retiring, Ocean Spray. During his free time, he dedicated 20-plus years as the district commissioner of the Boy Scouts of America. He helped organize the jamborees and helped build the SAMOSET counsel. Later in life, he started dedicating time in veterans’ organizations and finally ended up volunteering an endless amount of time with the Disabled American Veterans. He was currently the Jr. Vice of this organization. He spent many hours advocating for returning service members of the military services. He also served on the color guard during parades, burials, and sporting events. Additionally, he volunteered and donated to King Veterans Home, the High Ground, and Camp Victory. Terry’s selfless giving and dedication went beyond his family to his friends, the community, and the country he loved.
Terry enjoyed spending time with his family members at thrasherees, fishing events, and anything with tractors. You could find him riding his bike around town, enjoying a Rafter’s Baseball game, or going to community events.
He was preceded in death by his father Sylvester, his grandparents, and his many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is survived by his mother Goldabell, sister Debbie, and his two brothers Timm (Patty) and Tom (Elaine Clapero). He also leaves behind the joys of his life; his four nieces Erin, Amy, Lyric, and Charlotte, and two nephews Zach and Maverick.
